The Poorest City

It is amusing to me that they really did not show how they really did not show just how bad some of the neighborhoods really are. They obviously took some of the videos in some of the "better" areas (the business district for one). Maybe I will take some REAL videos and pics one day and post.....How does South Sixth street on a Friday night sound? lol

There are SO many things wrong with this town. Where does one begin? The biggest problem in this town is: jobs. So let's start there. What is the city government doing about it? What can be done about it? You have to go with the times. You can't just stay stuck in the past and expect the Dana's or CarTech's and the outlets of the town to stay around forever. The Mayor has to think about bringing in companies that will be here in the future. What is making money now? Technology. So you want to bring in companies that make computers, cell phones, tablets, wireless routers, media centers, televisions, etc and software companies that make and design programs for these products. The motherboards or circuit boards need to be manufactured. The cases need to be also. They need to be programmed. You have to bring in these companies and make it viable for them to stay here for the next few decades. Look around this town. It used to be the "outlet capital of the world". What happened to the one on 8th and 9th streets? Have you been there lately? It looks like a war zone. Now, the Fairgrounds Mall on 5th is supposedly closing down. Vanity Fair and Berkshire will soon follow. So I ask you again - What is the Mayor doing about it, really? How many jobs has he created so far? 100? 200? That isn't going to save the town. People are moving here for what reason? To get on Welfare? Why would you move somewhere that jobs are scarce? Have you ever wondered why the town's Board of Education, The Housing Authority, The Transportation Authority, and very recently The Water Authority are all separate entities from the municipal government? Does that even make any sense to you? Think about it - all the capital that said entities make would go to the town if they were part of it, right? I remember a few years back, there was an article in the local paper how the town's Board of Education had a surplus of money from school taxes due to the influx of all the people moving to this town, and the Board wasn't sure what they were going to do with it. So what happened to this money? You never saw anything again about it in the paper or heard anything on the local news. Seriously. What is being done? I have more to say. I just wanted to give you some thing to think about for now. Stay tuned.............
